E-Type Jaguar Full Body Restoration

Few cars in history capture the essence of timeless design and engineering excellence quite like the Jaguar E-Type. Originally unveiled in 1961, the E-Type redefined automotive beauty and performance, famously described by Enzo Ferrari himself as “the most beautiful car ever made.”

This particular model came to us tired and timeworn, but beneath the years of use lay one of the most exquisite automotive shapes ever created.

This E-Type underwent a full respray — an extensive refinishing process to correct poor previous paintwork and restore a premium finish.

All chrome, trims, windows, doors, bonnet, and rubber sills were carefully removed prior to preparation. The centre section, bonnet, and scuttle panel were stripped back to bare metal due to the presence of unsuitable previous materials.

We realigned and readjusted the bonnet gaps to achieve perfect fitment and symmetry, then carried out filler work to correct surface imperfections.

The A-pillar showed a discrepancy caused by poor prior paintwork that had begun to sink and lose body — this was sanded back, re-silled, and reinforced with additional primer.

A premium primer and paint system was then applied, followed by a high-quality lacquer to ensure durability and depth of finish. Once cured, the entire body was de-nibbed and polished to a flawless, mirror-like shine.

Finally, new rubber sills were fitted, and all components were carefully refitted to complete the restoration — returning the E-Type to the standard of craftsmanship and refinement it deserves.

Final Result

The hand-finished bodywork was carefully aligned and refined before receiving its deep, mirror-like paint finish, honouring the car’s original craftsmanship while subtly enhancing it with modern durability and refinement.

The result is a car that not only looks as breathtaking as it did the day it left Coventry, but also drives with renewed vitality, smooth, responsive, and unmistakably elegant.
